My favorite part of this is the way you describe the personal connection between the person who originally wrote in the front cover and the current holder - I'm looking at a copy of Dune that we own (that, according to your very helpful research, cannot be printed earlier than 1972). The original owner printed her name on a label (looks like a pretty 70s kind of label).

Then it's probably a piece of 70s history! I love when people print their name or write little notes in the cover. Who cares if it lowers the monetary value? I should stick a couple humorous notes in the covers of my books for someone in 100 years. "Dear 2100 citizen, has TikTok died yet? I'm buried here...go pray for my soul" LOL.

The love of reading might be the only thing powerful enough to kill TikTok 🤣

This was so fun to read and very helpful. I even pulled out a few of our books to see which one is the oldest; there's a few that I'll need to do a little more digging to know for sure, but I think the oldest in our collection is a first edition Illustrated version of Oscar Wilde's The Happy Prince and Other Fairy Tales from 1913!

Also congratulations and prayers for baby #3!!!

I was almost embarrassed at how fun this article was to research and write hahaha. You have a first edition Oscar Wilde?! That is a crazy cool piece of history! I love the idea of reading from that to your kids. Thank you for your prayers :). Baby Maza has been covered in them, and I think that's a big reason why I've been able to stay so calm throughout the whole experience.
